Report an Outage

For 24-Hour Emergency Dispatch Service
Call 1-800-726-2324 to report power failures

When the lights go out

First, check your fuse or circuit breaker box and any outdoor disconnects to see if a fuse tripped inside the home.

Then, check with neighbors to see if their power is also out.

If you determine the problem is outside your home, call us. The Call Center is staffed around-the-clock by trained professionals, ready to record power outage information and dispatch assistance as needed.

Please be prepared to give the monitoring service/dispatcher the account name, location number and account number as it appears on your electric billing statement. You will be asked to provide your telephone number in addition to the other information.

Remember, during major storms, calls increase and customers may experience busy signals or longer than normal waiting periods, but just keep trying. Once you report the outage, try not to call again unless you have an emergency.

If the problem involves down wires or damaged poles or transformers, you may first see a field team out assessing the damage done to equipment. Before restoration work can begin, all hazards must be cleared. Using this information, work is then prioritized and a repair crew is dispatched, equipped with all the necessary materials to repair damage and restore service.

Storm Watch versus Storm Warning

As severe weather approaches, we often hear the terms “storm watch” and “storm warning” while storm watch.jpglistening to weather updates on television and radio. But, do you know the difference?

A “storm watch” means there is a possibility of severe weather developing, while a “storm warning” means that a severe storm has developed and is on the way. A “warning” is more urgent than a “watch” and people are advised to take cover or seek shelter immediately during a storm warning.

Storm watches and warnings are issued by the National Weather Service (NWS). For Adams Electric’s service territory, such watches and warnings are handled by the NWS office in State College, Pa.

A winter storm watch is issued when, within the next 24 to 48 hours, six inches of snow or more are possible, or a combination of snow and ice is possible to cause significant delays and/or damage. A winter storm warning is issued when, within the next 24 to 48 hours, six inches of snow or more are expected, or 1/2 inch or more of ice is expected.
