What is Heat Pump Plus?

Heat Pump Plus combines an air-source electric heat pump with a controlled Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) booster in one unit. The booster houses ceramic bricks in which the off-peak heat is stored. The booster supplements the resistance strip heat which is typically required as a back-up to a heat pump when the outside air drops below a certain temperature. In addition, the booster serves as a comfort modulator. It has a duct sensor which monitors the discharge air temperature and adjusts the heat into the duct stream to maintain constant, comfortable discharge air. This eliminates the "cold blow" effect which is commonly associated with heat pumps.
