Adams Electric operates with rates based upon cost-of-service studies, as updated periodically. The cooperative also seeks to assure that costs of operation are spread equitably among all rate classifications. With the cost-of-service information, Adams Electric works with an independent consulting firm to study the cooperative's costs and how those costs are recovered.
Recent studies found that costs, in addition to rising, have shifted. Rates need to be adjusted to help the co-op meet its increased costs and ensure that each member pays a fair share of the cost of receiving reliable electric service.
