Three named to new terms on Adams Electric board

GETTYSBURG, PA: Thomas R. Harbaugh of East Berlin, Adams County, is the newest member of the Adams Electric Cooperative board of directors following an election process that ended during the cooperative’s 69th annual meeting held June 12, 2010 at the Allstar Events Complex in Gettysburg.

Harbaugh is retired from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and is also retired as the owner/broker of Home Town Realty in East Berlin.

Currently, he is on the board of the East Berlin Senior Citizens Center, a member of the Apple Core Band, a member of the Conewago Community Band, a bugler for the VFW #8896 Memorial Team, and is a member of the Gettysburg Symphonic Band.

Harbaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Mount Saint Mary’s University and is a graduate of the Waynesboro Business School. He fills a seat vacated by Nina Redding of Aspers.

Also during the election, incumbent directors Jay E. Grove of Shippensburg, Cumberland County and Judith J. Queitzsch of New Freedom, York County, were elected to new three-year terms on the co-op’s board of directors. Both were unopposed in their bids for re-election.

Grove has been a director since 1992, has been president of Adams Electric’s board since 2008, and is secretary of the Adams Utility Services Company board. He is on the board of Allegheny Electric Cooperative, Continental Cooperative Services, and Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Solutions. He is on Adams Electric’s Executive, Budget and Audit, and Strategic Planning committees. He is also Adams Electric’s delegate to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

He serves on Shippensburg’s West End Fire Company Victim Service Team, the Southampton Township Agriculture Security Area Committee and owns and operates Gro-Lan Farms partnership.

Queitzsch has been a director since 1999. She serves on Adams Electric’s Community Development and Strategic Planning committees, is liaison to Adams Electric’s Member Advisory Committee and is the cooperative’s delegate to the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative.

She earned Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership certificates, and is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. She is also a member of the York County Heritage Trust and the Southern York County YMCA “Strong Kids” program. She is actively involved in the Keystone Winnebago Club and the Boston Terrier Club of Maryland and America.

During a reorganizational meeting following the annual meeting, director Jay Grove was re-elected as president of the board, Glenn Bange of Hanover was re-elected vice president, Thomas Knaub of Wellsville was re-elected as treasurer and S. Eugene Herritt of Shippensburg was re-elected secretary.
