Candidates seek new terms on Adams boardAs a member-owned cooperative, Adams Electric is guided by a board of directors comprised of qualified members who wish to serve. The co-op is divided into nine zones for the purpose of electing directors and to ensure that Adams Electric has representation from all areas of the service territory.
Each year, three of those zones have open seats to be filled through the election process. In 2011, board positions in Zones 3, 4, and 9 are open. Those zones comprise the following areas: In 2011, the candidates listed below are running for new terms on the board. You can view a video of the candidates in which they answer why they want to serve, what strengths they will bring to the board and what they see as the biggest challenges facing Adams Electric. Zone 3 Candidate GLENN E. BANGE (incumbent) of Hanover is running for his third term as a director. He is vice-president of Adams Electric’s board, chair of the co-op’s Board Performance Committee, and serves on the co-op’s Budget and Audit Committee. He also serves as treasurer of the Adams Utility Services Company board, and is on the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Solutions board. He is president of Swam Electric Company and is active in the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of Independent Electrical Contractors, the American Subcontractors Association, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Adams County Farm Bureau, the Hanover Chamber of Commerce, and the Hanover Valley Presbyterian Church. He also earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate. Glenn has been married for 39 years, and has three children and five grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, hunting, and all-terrain vehicles. Zone 4 Candidate THOMAS J. KNAUB (incumbent) of Wellsville has been a director since 1999. He is treasurer of Adams Electric’s board of directors, vice president of the Adams Utility Services Company board, a Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Solutions board member, chair of the co-op’s Budget and Audit Committee, and serves on the co-op’s Executive and Board Performance committees. He is a Credentialed Cooperative Director, and received his Board Leadership Certification in 2009. He is general superintendent of operations/services for I.B. Abel Electrical Contractor and is a part-time farmer. He is active in the Pinchot Park Lions Club, the Wellsville Fire Company and the New Bethel United Methodist Church. His personal interests include spending family time riding horses, skiing, camping and farming. Tom and his wife have three grandchildren who enjoy the same interests. Zone 9 Candidate DANIEL E. EISENHART (incumbent) of Newville has been a director since 2002, is chair of Adams Electric’s Community Development Loan Review Committee, serves on the co-op’s Budget & Audit and Strategic Planning committees and is the Penn State Alternate Delegate. He is a Credentialed Cooperative Director, and received his Board Leadership Certification in 2005. Dan owns a commercial photography business and is a semi-retired adjunct faculty member at Harrisburg Area Community College. He is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology and is a United States Army veteran. He is active in Boy Scouts of America, the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, and the Buchanan Valley Rod and Gun Club Sportsman’s Association. Dan and his wife, Corinne, have been married for 42 years.
