Adams Electric earns ‘Best Places’ designationGETTYSBURG, PA: Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc. has earned 21st place among the Best Places to Work in PA for the second time in as many years by a statewide program designed to look for employers who provide enjoyable, safe and educational workplaces for employees to thrive. Each year the program recognizes 100 total businesses as the ‘Best Places’ to work in PA. This year, 65 medium-sized businesses, between 25-250 employees, and 35 large-sized businesses, over 250 employees were recognized. Adams Electric was notified that it placed 21st among the 65 businesses selected in the medium-sized category at a banquet held at the Lancaster County Convention Center on Dec. 1. Last year, the co-op placed 24th in the medium-sized business category.
The program, started in 2000, is a public/private partnership between Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Central Penn Business Journal. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part of this process was evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey which measured the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process. Adams Electric is a member-owned, non-profit electric distribution utility serving 32,000 member accounts in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties.
