Aerial patrols took place in the Shippensburg area on Monday, Feb. 1, and include a tie-line shared with PPL, in the area of the Cumberland County Landfill. Patrols moved to the co-op’s Gettysburg District on Tuesday, Feb. 2 and are patroling the co-op’s York District, Feb. 3-5.

The inspections will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. each day, weather permitting, and last about a week. Two of Adams Electric’s line crew and a pilot will conduct the patrols, flying for about six hours each day.

The cooperative has contracted with Lancaster Helicopter to conduct the inspections. The helicopter will try to avoid flying over congested areas and hovering over agricultural operations.

The co-op has conducted aerial inspections every year since 1996. Employees, contractors and the public are encouraged to keep an eye on the lines and equipment and report any problems immediately by calling toll-free 888/232-6732.
