Your electric meter

There are several different types of meters on the system:five digit.jpg

FIVE-DIGIT METER:
This is the most common type of residential meter. The right digit on the meter may or may not be a stationary zero. Read the meter from left to right, reporting all five digits as they appear on the meter, including the stationary zero.

four digit.jpgFOUR-DIGIT METER: This type of meter is typically found on current transformer (CT) poles. If you have this type of meter, the left block of the meter reporting section of your bill will have an "X" printed in it. That leaves four remaining blocks in which to enter the reading. Read the meter from left to right, reporting the four digits as they appear on the meter.

More information and support is available if you have a time-of-day meter.

AUTOMATED METER: An automated meter sends readings electronically over the power lines to an Adams Electric substation. The readings are then relayed by microwave signal to the co-op’s headquarters in Gettysburg and automatically recorded.

Automated meters have been installed in upper Franklin and lower Cumberland counties. Plans call for all Adams Electric accounts to have automated meters by 2009. Until they are notified that their meters have been activated, members must continue to read their meters and report those readings each month.
